Staff not kind! Most of the young workers are, but a middle aged man who seems to be the chef (not at all) is very rude. I have been waiting for Information outside, be expected to wait for a very long time standing around if you don’t have a badge.. I never got the info after i waited for 30 minuts, I have been waiting for an email that never arrived. Not swiss quality unfortunately!

PueGym Basel Markthallevis a very well equiped gym in all areas: free weights, gym snd cardio equipment, stretch & resistance bands, Hyrox. Good changing rooms. Clean and low background noise. Staff very friendly. Very good value for money: CHF 75 per month is very cheap in Switzerland. I cancelled my subscription at the Fitness Heuwage gym down the road, because of the poor weights area, constant refurbishments, low equipment availability and rude staff. PureGym is so much better if you are looking for a quiet and good gym (without sauna/wellness). I should have changed years ago.

Constantly undergoing renovations - with the currently ongoing one (for about a month) there is a major risk for accidents as machines are extremely close to each other and there is barely any room to walk inbetween. I notified the team of this and other issues (such as illumination being too bright), and previously of lack of soap in the bathrooms, requesting a reduction to the membership cost or cancellation of my membership. They cancelled the membership right away but refused to return the money they have already collected yesterday for the following month. Over time (I guess to cut costs) they also removed all TVs that they originally had. This effectively meant to me that I agreed to a contract at a specific price point about a year ago for a gym configuration that I liked, which progressively and continuously deteriorated without such changes ever being reflected in the price of the membership. I would not recommend this gym.

I would like to file a formal complaint about an incident that occurred at the Pure Gym Markthalle on 26/06/2026 around 10:30 am. I am a tourist, registered since the 8th, training here for one month. Today, while I was waiting for the QR code to be released for entry, the manager stared at me in a very uncomfortable way, with a look of suspicion, as if I didn’t have the right to be there. This was especially painful, since I have been training regularly without any issues. This kind of behavior reinforces an exclusionary environment, which must be addressed. I ask that the gym implement stronger measures for staff training and awareness, as well as a public stance against racism.
